SharePoint 2007 and 2010 Customization for the Site Owner (Paperback): Michael T Smith SharePoint 2007 and 2010 Customization for the Site Owner (Paperback)
Michael T Smith
R670 Discovery Miles 6 700 Ships in 7 - 11 work days

Finally a book for the Site Owner

There are many books for administrators, developers, designers and end users, but few for the site owner. This one is for you, the SharePoint site owner and the SharePoint power user. It's also for the developer who does not want to "reinvent the wheel" and create a complex solution when a simpler one is available. It's for the SharePoint administrator who is always asked to do the impossible This is not a branding book, but everything here can be used as part of your site design.

Customization you can do

This book is designed to get you started in customizing your SharePoint site with the tools you have readily at hand. This book has complete copy and paste solutions, and it also shows how each solution was crafted and how it works. After working through a few of the customizations and picking up some basic skills, you can start to figure out how SharePoint has been put together and start creating your own customizations. Everything in this book can be done by a Site Owner or a Site Collection Administrator. Nothing in this book requires the deployment of files to the SharePoint web servers. Nothing in this book requires programming skills or Visual Studio (but additional skills and tools are always good). All of the examples can be duplicated using only web parts, SharePoint Designer, and copy and paste from the book's web site. This is not a branding book, it's all about improving the SharePoint user experience. While you can duplicate all of the examples using the step by step instructions, the book also explains how and why each one works. The book also includes "getting started" chapters on JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Web Parts and SharePoint Designer. This book has a supporting web site There you will find all of the source code, a place to ask questions, samples of many of the web parts in a SharePoint site, along with any new additions.

A few of the over 75 customizations and tricks you will find inside: Color coded calendars and task lists Replace your home page and web part zones How the change the site title text: font, color and size, or hide it altogether How to add a copyright message, or any general header and footer to every page Add, remove, move and resize web part zones Customize Quick Launch and the Tree View Create views that can group by more than two columns Change a web part's "Add new" and "No items" messages Hide standard menu options such as "Upload Multiple" and "Windows Explorer" Customize the calendar to add color or to strike out canceled events Highlight past due tasks in a task list Add "open in new window" to the Links list web part Create a random picture web part Create custom dropdown Top Link bar menus "and many more "

Trends in Energy Trading, Transaction and Risk Management Software 2009 - 2010 (Paperback): Patrick Reames, G M Vasey Ph D Trends in Energy Trading, Transaction and Risk Management Software 2009 - 2010 (Paperback)
Patrick Reames, G M Vasey Ph D
R681 Discovery Miles 6 810 Ships in 7 - 11 work days

Energy trading, transaction and risk management (ETRM) software is that category of software applications, architectures and tools that support the business processes associated with trading energy and broader commodities. In the broadest sense, energy trading means both the buying and selling of energy commodities such as crude oil, coal, natural gas, electric power, emissions and refined products, the management of the movement and delivery of the energy commodities, and associated risk management activities. Recently, with the emergence of energy and commodities as an asset class for financial traders such as hedge funds and banks, the boundary between ETRM and CTRM (Commodity Trading & Risk Management) has become increasingly blurred. UtiliPoint research indicates that few, if any trading firms, now trade a single commodity and even what constitutes 'energy' is less distinct than it once was. These days, commodities such as freight rates, ethanol and emissions might be traded by energy trading firms in addition to crude oil, natural gas and so forth; and ETRM software is increasingly likely to cater to commodity trading generally and not just energy commodities. In this new edition of the UtiliPoint Expert Series, UtiliPoint's CommodityPoint experts, drawing on the company's industry leading library of research, review the latest developments in the energy and commodity trading space and provide the reader an in-depth look at the impacts these changes have had on the vendors of mission critical trading and risk management systems, and on the users whose companies operate in this volatile marketplace.

Energy trading, transaction and risk management (ETRM) software solutions are the highly specialized systems used by companies engaged in the production, buying, selling, moving and managing of energy commodities. With more than 70 firms offering ETRM solutions, from established companies servicing the entirety of the energy value chain, to smaller and sometimes upstart companies offering focused solutions for specialized links in that chain, selecting the right product and bringing that solutions on board can be a daunting task. This book, the second installment of the UtiliPoint Expert Series, follows Trends in Energy Trading, Transaction and Risk Management Software - A Primer and provides valuable insights into the process of selecting, implementing and maintaining these critical systems. It is intended to create a more complete understanding of those critical activities that will be the ultimate determinate of success for any company seeking to improve their ability to compete in a complex and dynamic energy commodities market. In addition to providing information about the specific activities involved in ETRM system selection, implementation, and maintenance, this book also provides in-depth discussions of critical tasks and decision points within those activities, including the importance of testing and the management of historical transactional information. Other topics will assist clients to better understand the business models of their ETRM solutions providers, as the strategies and decisions made by those vendors can have significant implications for the users of their systems.

Embedded Multiprocessor System-on-Chip for Access Network Processing (Paperback): Mohamed Bamakhrama Embedded Multiprocessor System-on-Chip for Access Network Processing (Paperback)
Mohamed Bamakhrama
R1,113 Discovery Miles 11 130 Ships in 7 - 11 work days

Master's Thesis from the year 2007 in the subject Computer Science - Applied, grade: 1.0, Technical University of Munich (Institute for Informatics), 82 entries in the bibliography, language: English, abstract: Multicore systems are dominating the processor market; they enable the increase in computing power of a single chip in proportion to the Moore's law-driven increase in number of transistors. A similar evolution is observed in the system-on-chip (SoC) market through the emergence of multi-processor SoC (MPSoC) designs. Nevertheless, MPSoCs introduce some challenges to the system architects concerning the efficient design of memory hierarchies and system interconnects while maintaining the low power and cost constraints. In this master thesis, I try to address some of these challenges: namely, non-cache coherent DMA transfers in MPSoCs, low instruction cache utilization by OS codes, and factors governing the system throughput in MPSoC designs. These issues are investigated using the empirical and simulation approaches. Empirical studies are conducted on the Danube platform. Danube is a commercial MPSoC platform that is based on two 32-bit MIPS cores and developed by Infineon Technologies AG for deployment in access network processing equipments such as integrated access devices, customer premises equipments, and home gateways. Simulation-based studies are conducted on a system based on the ARM MPCore architecture. Achievements include the successful implementation and testing of novel hardware and software solutions for improving the performance of non-cache coherent DMA transfers in MPSoCs. Several techniques for reducing the instruction cache miss rate are investigated and applied. Finally, a qualitative analysis of the impact of instruction reuse, number of cores, and memory bandwidth on the system throughput in MPSoC systems is presented.
