David Luiz Moreira Marinho, known as David Luiz, is a Brazilian footballer who plays for Chelsea in the Premier League. Primarily a central defender, he can also be deployed as a left back.
After starting out at Vitoria, he moved to Benfica at the age of 19, remaining with the club five seasons (three complete). He joined Chelsea in January 2011, winning the Champions League and the FA Cup in the following season.
On 5 February 2012, in a league home fixture against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge, Luiz put Chelsea ahead 3-0 in the 50th minute after his header was deflected by Rio Ferdinand, following a Juan Mata free kick. The game ended with a 3-3 draw. On the 25th, through a curled shot, he opened the score against Bolton Wanderers (3-0, home).
On 14 March, Chelsea faced S.S.C. Napoli in the Champions League's round-of-16, following a 1-3 loss at the Stadio San Paolo: Luiz made a stunning performance to help his team win the tie with a 4-1 extra time win, being subsequently chosen by UEFA as the "Man of the match", an accolade he also received in the first leg of the quarterfinals against former team Benfica (1-0 away win). However, after leaving the pitch in the FA Cup semifinals against Tottenham Hotspur with a muscular injury, it was announced that he would miss both of the Champions League semifinals encounters against FC Barcelona, and the domestic cup final; he played, however, in the Champions League final - John Terry was also suspended for the match - appearing the full 120 minutes and converting his penalty shootout attempt as the Blues won it 4-3.
On 22 September 2012, Luiz signed a new five-year contract with Chelsea.
Armed with pace, power and dizzying chicanery, Antonio Valencia is one of the leading exponents of wingplay.
The Ecuadorian is the latest player to wear United's iconic number seven shirt, having established himself as one of Sir Alex Ferguson's most potent attacking weapons since his arrival at Old Trafford in the summer of 2009.
His transfer to United curtailed a three-year stint at Wigan Athletic, where he had piqued manager Paul Jewell's interest with a series of impressive performances in central midfield in Ecuador's campaign at the 2006 World Cup.
Though his performances earned him a nomination for FIFA's Best Young Player award, Valencia was only a bit-part player at Villarreal and had gone into the tournament after a successful loan spell with Recreativo Huelva in Spain's second tier.
It required another loan deal to take him to Wigan, but Antonio impressed sufficiently as the Latics excelled in their first Premier League campaign and he made a permanent move to the JJB Stadium as Steve Bruce took over from Jewell.
In his three seasons at Wigan, Valencia made 83 appearances, scoring seven times and catching the eye of several bigger clubs. Antonio turned down the chance to join Real Madrid, but couldn't resist the opportunity to move to Old Trafford in the summer of 2009.
Hopes that a superb maiden season could be replicated were dashed when he suffered an horrific ankle injury in United's Champions League draw with Rangers in September 2010. However, Valencia made a breathtaking return to fitness and form within six months.
He played a key role as the Reds regained the Premier League title - making him a league champion for the first time - and he ended a topsy-turvy campaign with fittingly mixed emotions, starting his first Champions League final but tasting defeat against Barcelona.

He went on to make 92 appearances for the club and score 14 goals.
After refusing a contract renewal with Blackburn Rovers after their relegation, Hoilett joined Queens Park Rangers on 27 July 2012 for a fee decided by tribunal. He signed a four-year contract and scored his first goal for QPR in a 3-2 League Cup loss to Reading on 26 September 2012.
Hoilett is eligible to play for Canada or Jamaica at international level.
