This is the 5th edition of Nosh for Students, a book originally inspired by the author's son, Ben, who left for university with no cooking skills. Toasted sandwiches and Mars bars were his staple diet, but these didn't serve him too well! What was needed to encourage him to cook was an easily attainable taste of home, oh, and pictures with every recipe! Nosh for Students was born. Since then, Joy has helped over 250,000 students get cooking with her straightforward and simple approach. Joy helps to take the chore out of cooking, giving students a taste of success and making the experience so much fun.

The world's last authentic overnight wooden steamboat, the Delta Queen cruised America's inland waters from 1927 through 2008, offering passengers breathtaking views, luxury accommodations, rousing entertainment, and southern-style feasts. For over eighty-two years, chefs in the small galley served memorable meals -- from fried chicken and crawfish en cro?te to strawberry shortcake and beignets. The Delta Queen Cookbook brings the Delta Queen's story to life with an engaging historical narrative and over 125 recipes prepared by the steamboat's former chefs during their tenures in the cookhouse. Nobles traces the story of the "Grand Old Lady" as she faced remarkable social, economic, and political challenges. The Delta Queen became a haven for illegal drinking during Prohibition, and she survived the effects of the Great Depression, World War II, and increasingly modern and sophisticated competition. Despite the obstacles, this flapper-era boat always found a seamless way to coddle passengers with cozy staterooms and delectable fare. Each chapter ends with authentic Delta Queen recipes -- including Citrus and Watercress Salad with Chili Dressing, Roast Duck and Wild Rice Soup, Speckled Trout Pecan, Eggs Crawkitty, Steamboat Pudding, and more -- proportioned and tested for home kitchens.
The Delta Queen Cookbook includes interviews with former crew, chefs, and passengers; over ninety historical and full-color photographs; and vintage and modern menus. History buffs, steamboat lovers, and home cooks alike will revel in the memories and tastes that make the Delta Queen one of America's best-loved national treasures.
Tying down this iconic food market in one volume would be to disregard its nature. The Market Day Journal started out as an idea for a book, but Russel Wasserfall soon realised that any attempt to tie down the iconic food market at the Biscuit Mill in Cape Town in one volume would be to disregard its nature. With designer Roxy Spears, he conceptualised a series of journals which, like the market itself, are living things which have the capacity to change constantly, with each successive iteration. This is the first of a series of four journals that look at the seasons and tides of the market over the course of two years. By the time you read this, things will have moved on. Steve Jeffrey will have a new sausage on offer, the price of a Dasdog Mandog will have changed, but that doesn't matter. Each story is a glimpse of what we found at the Neighbourgoods Market on the days we were there.

Wine of plenty
Salvador Dali's epicurean guidebook
Hot on the heels (or lobster claws) of the best-selling Salvador Dali phenomenon, Les diners de Gala, TASCHEN presents the artist's equally surreal and sensual viticulture follow-up: The Wines of Gala. A Dalinian take on pleasures of the grape and a coveted collectible, the book sets out to organize wines "according to the sensations they create in our very depths." Through eclectic metrics like production method, weight, and color, the book presents wines of the world in such innovative, Daliesque groupings as "Wines of Frivolity," "Wines of the Impossible," and "Wines of Light."
Bursting with imagery, the book features more than 140 illustrations by Dali. Many of these are appropriated artworks, including various classical nudes, all of them reconstructed with suitably Surrealist, provocative touches, like Jean-Francois Millet's The Angelus, one of Dali's favorite points of reference over the decades. Dali also included what is now considered one of the greatest works from his late "Nuclear Mystic" phase, The Sacrament of the Last Supper (1955), which sets the iconic biblical scene in a translucent dodecahedron-shaped space before a Catalonian coastal landscape. Dali was by this stage a devout Catholic, simultaneously captivated by science, optical illusion, and the atomic age.
The first section is dedicated to "Ten Divine Dali Wines," an overview of 10 important wine-growing regions, while the second develops Dali's revolutionary ordering of wine by emotional experience, instead of by geography or variety. Rather than any prescriptive classification, it's a flamboyant, free-flowing manifesto in favor of taste and feeling, as much a multisensory treat as a full-bodied document of Dali's late-stage oeuvre, in which the artist both reflected on formative influences and refined his own cultural legacy.

Gigi Butler of Gigi's Cupcakes shares her personal success story, her hard-won business acumen, and the life-changing inspiration that she's gained from a challenging life. Each chapter includes a delicious dessert recipe for cupcakes and more! As a young child, Gigi knew that if she wanted to succeed, she had to work hard and offer a service that people wanted to buy. At age seven, she sold eggs out of her little red wagon to neighbors. At age fifteen, she bought cleaning supplies and started a cleaning service out of her rural California home. When she moved to Nashville at nineteen, she had her heart set on becoming a country music star. She cleaned houses by day and took every singing opportunity she could find by night. But when she found herself still doing the same thing at age thirty, she realized that God had better plans for her. If she wouldn't be a successful singer, she decided she would grow a business that she could be proud of. An extraordinary baker throughout her life, she decided to open a cupcake shop with all the money she could pull together. With the help and support of her family, she was able to open her first store in a prime Nashville location. The news of her cupcakes spread quickly, and the franchise became a huge success. In The Secret Ingredient, Gigi shares how her failure led her to explore her passion for baking and how she became a successful businesswoman. With spunk and humor, she weaves her hard-won wisdom and business acumen into the fun, fascinating, and instructive stories of her life. Each inspirational chapter concludes with a treasured family recipe for cupcakes and other scrumptious desserts. For anyone with big dreams, Gigi's message is simple: believe in yourself, walk with integrity, work hard, and trust in God. Your life may not turn out exactly how you expected or hoped, but it will be so much better than you could have ever imagined.
