After his first business failed due to the economic state of the
country after World War I, Hugo Boss managed to find success with his
second venture as the official supplier of uniforms to the SA and SS
guards of Nazi Germany. Though he was fined heavily for his support of
the Nazi party after World War II, his company was able to survive and
transitioned into a suit making business. Hugo Boss died in 1948 and
was unable to see the success of his enterprise in the post war era—the
male fashion industry was on its way to establishing itself and the
Hugo Boss brand was to be a major player.

American born designer John Varvatos credits his love for rock music as
the catalyst that drives him in fashion. Growing up in a suburb of
Metro Detroit, Varvatos discovered the sounds of Iggy Pop and Alice
Cooper among others in his youth and has used their creative energy to
fuel that of his own. Joining Polo Ralph Lauren in 1983 Varvatos plied
his craft there until 1990 when he moved to Calvin Klein to head
menswear design for the collection as well as the cK brand. He returned
to Ralph Lauren in 1995 as the head of menswear design for all Lauren
brands and subsequently created the Polo Jeans Company.
Clinique products are formulated avoiding known allergens. Each
product is tested by a group of 600 people where the formulation is
applied 12 times in search for a zero reactions result. Each successful
formula is regularly re-assessed for possible improvements which can
result in a formulation change. Rather than selling a universal program
to all customers, Clinique seeks to customize their solution to each
individual—skin type is determined and a specific regime is recommended
for each customer.
As a man who made the enjoyment of life a philosophy, Zino Davidoff
believed in enriching the world with beauty and elegance. The son of an immigrant
tobacco merchant in Geneva Switzerland, Davidoff journeyed to Latin
America at 18 in 1924 to learn the tobacco trade. Returning to Geneva
and taking over the family business in the early 1930s, Davidoff saw
his family’s shop thrive in the haven Switzerland had become for the
wealthy in World War II. The marketing of Cuban cigars, his desktop
cigar humidor and his writings on cigar smoking
and Cuban brands made Davidoff very well known and successful. He sold
his business to the Max Oettinger Company in 1970 but stayed on as the
ambassador for the Davidoff brand until his death in 1994. A holding
company founded in 1885, Max Oettiger recognized the reputation of both
Davidoff the man and his wares and realized they had the perfect
products and vehicle to take this brand to the next level. Eventually,
80% of Oettiger’s revenue would be derived from tobacco and smokers’
accessories marketed primarily under the Davidoff name while 20% came
from other products such as writing instruments, cognacs, leather goods
and fragrances.

Cosmetics giant Estée Lauder began in 1946 with a line of four products
manufactured by Lauder’s uncle and under the marketing genius of Joseph
and Estée Lauder. As funds were limited early on, they grew their
business through innovation and determination: Samples were given to
customers before purchasing, they were tasteful and personal in their
sales tactics, and they only sought the most prestigious of clients and
accounts. This set a standard for modern cosmetics sales and a
precedent for Estée Lauder, as their brand is only carried in the
finest stores today. In time, Estée Lauder expanded their range of new
Estee Lauder perfume products as well as their selling market. They
started their first international account in 1960 with Harrods in
London and opened an office in Hong Kong the following year. Aramis, a
line dedicated to fragrances and products for men, was started in 1964,
and Clinique Laboratories Inc., the first dermatologist-guided,
allergy-tested, fragrance-free cosmetic brand, was launched in 1968.
Since then, Estee Lauder has continued to provide exceptionally
exquisite products that are favorites for both men and women all around
the world.

This is Gucci's second fragrance for women. Gucci Rush is a very attractive and recognizable fragrance, impulsive and irresistible, just like love at first sight. The name of the fragrance "Rush" reminds of stimulative drug, very widespread in America during 1980s. The intensive red bottle has the shape of a video cassette tape, a very unusual and modern design. The fragrance is composed like a luscious exotic floral cocktail: Californian gardenia, South African freesia, jasmine and Turkish rose. Corriander, vanilla and patchouli emphasize the oriental character and uniqueness of this fragrance. The top notes are gardenia and freesia; the heart is created of jasmine, Turkish rose and coriander, the drydown unites vanilla, patchouli and vetiver. The fragrance has a lingering trace that follows the woman and surrounds her from all sides
