It's been more than a decade since the first Porsche High
Performance Driving Handbook" set the standard for getting the most
out of a Porsche. If driving techniques haven't changed since then,
technology definitely has. This book, by the world's foremost
expert, takes that new technology into account as it gives readers
the latest information on how to drive a Porsche to its limit.
Once upon a time, the Can Am and Trans Am race series changed
their rules because Vic Elford and his Porsches were winning too
often. Here Quick Vic shares his insights into ride control
systems, new tire compounds, and Tiptronic and Direct-Shift Gearbox
transmissions, all of which have transformed the experience--and
the challenge--of driving a Porsche.
As he discusses recent models, ranging from new generations of the
911 to the whole-cloth inventions of the Boxster, Cayenne, Cayman S
and Carrera GT, modern images and historical photos immerse the
reader in both the history and the evolving technology that Vic
Elford knows like no one else.

from the essential basics to the intricacies of Digital Command
Control, leading to the goal of the hobby - to build and operate a
model railway.
An easy-to-use manual for grown-ups and kids that explains how to
make wonderful creations out of LEGO (R), with basic information,
plenty of useful tips, and lots of ideas on how to customize and
enhance the models using one's imagination. A detailed historical
introduction on the origin and development of the famous ""bricks""
is followed by chapters devoted to specific topics - from cars to
ships, from airplanes to cities, even to ""writing"" with LEGO (R)
- that describe different construction techniques and reveal all
the tricks for creating original models. A practical "dictionary"
analyses the most common types of bricks and explains which ones
are which, what they are called, how to recognize them, and how to
find individual pieces. The volume also explains essential
technical jargon to beginners, who, by consulting the various
sections, will learn how to devise new models in order to test
their skills as master builders.
This volume brings together the best LEGO (R) models that took part
in the legendary contest: Space Race including ships, wheeled
"all-terrain" vehicles, and walking robots, also known as "wearable
exoskeletons". It is organized as a fascinating track along which
new types of vehicles requiring different types and degrees of
skill are presented at every stop. Each chapter brings together and
describes the best models in each category. The reader will find a
detailed description, a brief history, and photographs of each
model, as well as building instructions and a list of the LEGO (R)
pieces needed to construct it. By browsing through the book,
reading the tips and suggestions provided, and having fun building
the various models, the reader will learn various construction
techniques and discover tricks for creating original models of his
or her invention. A practical "dictionary" examines the most common
types of brick, explains their names and functions as well as how
to identify them and find missing pieces. The volume also defines
the basic terms of the technical jargon for beginners, who, by
consulting the various sections, will discover how to design new
games that test their own LEGO (R) Master Builder skills even in
the infinite vastness of space.

Sharpening workshop tools is probably the most diverse of all
workshop activities and the one that is least understood by the
majority of workshop owners. This is not unreasonable in view of
the wide range of equipment suggested for the task, ranging from
the complex, typically an industrial tool and cutter grinder,
through to the humble off hand grinder. This book illustrates how
most sharpening tasks can be carried out using an off hand grinder
and a few simply made accessories, whilst doing this to a standard
comparable to that achieved using much more sophisticated
equipment. A lack of understanding of the processes almost
certainly results in the workshop owner attempting tasks with far
from perfect cutting tools that can diminish the satisfaction of a
job well done. With the information in this book this situation can
be avoided and working with blunt tooling should be a thing of the
past.
