for SATB and organ This anthem sets a text by the seventeenth-century Bishop Thomas Ken relating the life of St Andrew. The vocal parts are narrative in style and coloured by decorative organ passages. This setting would be well-suited for use on Saints' Days.
for SATB (with divisions) and organ This setting of Psalm 95, written for Truro Cathedral Choir, was shortlisted for a BASCA British Composer Award 2013. Evocative and subtle in its use of colour and texture, the piece has independent organ passages, an intense musical climax, and a last verse akin to a gentle chorale.
for SATB unaccompanied This joyful setting of an old Irish air, arranged by Sir Charles Villiers Stanford and edited by John Rutter, features a text by Thomas Moore on life's fleeting pleasures. It alternates between cheerful louder sections and mischievous quieter passages, before a charmingly hushed ending. A recording can be found on the Collegium CD There is sweet music (CSCD 505) by the Cambridge Singers, conducted by John Rutter.

Poetry and music have been associated with each other from the very beginning. The Penguin Book of English Song draws together a great variety of English poetry (including Irish, Scots and Welsh writers) that has reached a wider audience through the magic of music. Richard Stokes's rich anthology of verse stretches from the fourteenth century to the twentieth, collecting poems that have inspired musical settings by one hundred English poets, along with a treasure trove of illuminating notes and marginalia about their lives, work and, often, their approach to music. Stokes gathers together in a single volume a huge amount of information about English song that will assist musicians in performing these works, and enlighten all those enthusiasts who delight in the fusion of words and music that has produced countless moments of incandescent magic.

Cantique de Jean Racine was written in 1865 during Faure's final year at the Ecole Niedermeyer, winning him the first prize for composition, and this elegant work now holds a cherished place in the choral repertory for both sacred and secular occasions. Presented with an English singing translation in addition to the original French, John Rutter's edition includes an accompaniment for organ or piano, and the work may also be performed with the transcription for harp and strings (available separately), compatible with the instrumentation for the OUP edition of the Faure Requiem in its 1893 version. Complete orchestral and vocal material is available on hire/rental and on sale. In addition, an arrangement for upper voices (SSAA) with Faure's original keyboard accompaniment is available on sale.
