They contain only the purest medium fine ground artists' pigments, which are in the highest possible concentration. Contrastingly, the binding agent content, is kept to a minimum, which ensures a stable compound. In order to guarantee the highest quality it is necessary to manufacture Schmincke pastels using special recipes which avoid the use of machinery during manufacture. 'Worm extruders' form the pre-kneaded dough into round skeins, which are then detached by hand and cut in a wirestrung frame. The damp sticks have to dry for around eight days before they can be labelled and packed by hand. This is a costly and time consuming process, however it is the only way Schmincke can guarantee homogenous quality and smoothness in all the production cycles.
Conte crayons with their 6x6mm cross-section offer a range of 84 colours, 14 tones of which are specifically designed for sketching. The crayons are very soft to use and are manufactured using natural pigments (iron oxide, carbon black, titanium dioxide), clay (kaolin) and a binder (cellulose ether), which are then baked after being extruded and dried. The degree of baking varies the grade (hardness:H/ softness:B) of the black and white crayons.
Wonderfully dry and dusty stroke, just like charcoal.
Can be dry mixed and blended or used as a water colour.
Brilliant results on dark backgrounds too.
Available in 60 shades, various ranges and also individually.
High pigmentation guarantees great luminosity and opacity as well as colour-fastness and colour brilliance.
The soft lead also draws perfectly on delicate paper.
The wooden shaft protects the lead from breaking.
Excellent colour release Intense and pure colours Good to highest degree of lightfastness Very high colouring power due to high concentration of pigment Free of pigments based on the metals lead, cadmium and cobalt. The complete range consists of 203 colours The composition of soft pastels is such that the colour on the ground approaches that of pure pigment as much as possible. This is achieved through a combination of pigment, a minimal amount of binder and the purest and softest types of kaolin, also referred to as pipe clay or China clay. the balanced proportion of these ingredients results in an as spontaneous as possible colour transfer and a velvety look.
A white Cretacolor pastel pencil that combines perfectly with charcoal, sanguine, black, and sepia. Essential for sketching and drawing.

The pastels are made in Northumberland and contain only pure pigments in a cycle of related hues, instead of adding white or black to the colours. The result is intense, vibrant colour not muddied by the blending of colours.
Unison's pastels contain very little binder, making them truly soft and smooth. They are mixed to meticulous recipes and are based on traditional pigments such as cadmiums, cobalts and natural and synthetic earths.
Pastels measure approximately 2-1/8" long × 5/8" diameter (54 mm × 16 mm). Sticks vary slightly due to the hand-making process.

The exceptional diameter of the Conté à Paris pastel pencil (5 mm) lead gives genuine freedom of creation and has an unrivalled feel. The pastel is a perfect pencil companion to soft pastel because it's lead is slightly harder with less pigment. It is preferable to Conté soft pastels and crayons when detail is required for small and medium sized formats. In contrast with soft pastel, pastel pencil should not be added in successive layers of colours, but used as pure colours laid out in patchwork fashion side by side (so as not to dull the shades).
This high tooth texture pastel card is made from a thin layer of finely
ground vegetable fibres (fine cork particles) which gives a velvety
grain surface and decreases the need for fixative. Surface sheet,
backing board & adhesives are acid free but are not neccesarily
lightfast.

A serious painting medium, they provide both an oil and a pastel effect and do not require fixing.Daler-Rowney Oil Pastels are smooth, easy to use, and have been carefully colour-matched to the Artists’ Soft Pastels range. Works in Daler-Rowney Oil Pastels do not need to be fixed to the surface.
The Sennelier oil pastel is a product that makes use of the components used in all Sennelier colours: top quality pigments, an extremely pure synthetic binding medium and mineral wax. The pigments are ground with an inert, non-siccative binding medium that does not oxidise and that has no effect upon either film stability or surface. This base is then mixed with wax (neutral pH). The balance of this mix provides Sennelier oil pastels with a unique unctuousness and a creamy texture that allows for a great deal of freedom in pictorial expression.
The Sennelier oil pastels possess an extraordinarily high pigment content, thus providing them with a high colouring and covering potential, excellent brightness and a high degree of light stability (with the exception of metallic and fluorescent shades).
The remarkable properties of these components, along with their precise dosage, provide Sennelier oil pastels with unique properties, making the brand a world-recognised reference.

Ingres is a type of paper named after the Neoclassical French painter Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres. Its unique texture is formed on a cylinder mould machine by pressing the paper fibres between the cylinder mesh and the marking felt. This surface texture is known as a chain and laid line surface. Daler-Rowney’s Ingres paper provides excellent tooth for traditional pastel work. This pad contains 24 sheets of 160gsm acid-free pastel paper, in 6 assorted colours (4 of each) with interleaving sheets. Size: 12" x 9" / 305 x 229 mm
