W. He was regularly commissioned by the editors of Tatler and The Sketch and in great demand from advertising companies. An epic motorbike ride from the UK through Europe, Asia and Mongolia to the outer reaches of Siberia. A book about the healing power of travel and motorcycling through an unknown landscape. Fully illustrated with the photographs the author took while on the journey. When his wife died tragically, Ian Rogers decided that to ride from London to Magadan, in Russia, would be his road to healing and recovery. Completing the Road of Bones on a motorcycle would be an escape route from the helplessness he had felt as he had nursed his wife through the cancer that he would in the end lose her to. It took him away from his work, his family, his normal life and gave him the time to grieve and put his world in perspective. No windows, no automatic transmission, no metal box protection and absolutely no safety belt, motorcycling fills your senses. Wind, rain, sunshine, smells and with your eyes always on the prize be it the idiot road users in built up areas or mile upon mile of breath-taking Monglian wilderness. Join the author for a journey of discovery through 15 countries, 11 time zones and 30,000 kilometres of Europe, Central Asia and the Far East. An adventure story as well as a homage to the author's wife, this is diary of a journey to places people do not normally think of visiting, or know anything about. `It's good to have an end to journey towards; but it is the journey that matters in the end.' Ursula Le Guin, author.
A maintenance and repair for the home mechanic. It provides step-by-step instructions for both simple maintenance and major repairs.
Dave Roberts had the good fortune to inherit some money after his aunt's death in 1999. Instead of using it sensibly, to replace his rotting windows and the hole in the kitchen ceiling, he purchased a sports car in kit form, built it, and took it motor racing. There followed 15 years of fun, learning, and various tribulations. At the end of it, facing retirement from working life and the curtain coming down on motor sport activity, he began to sift through his recollections and some accumulated writings, realising that a coherent memoir might be achievable. As the last season on the track unfolds, none too successfully, he shares his thoughts on coming to terms with the imminent withdrawal from a delightful addiction, and recalls many of the humorous moments along the way. We hear about kit cars and jalopies marooned on various hilltops in East Yorkshire, and even Brighton. We see how he left trailers and even tow vehicles behind on the way to race meetings, how to convince a close rival on track of your possible lunacy and his `epic' season long battle for a third in class trophy. Along the way Dave tells of hints and tips for car building and how this carries over to life in general. And, probably most importantly, how to achieve a standard at salsa dancing, just a smidgen ahead of `complete nincompoop'.

This is the car that launched the muscle car era and gave the Baby Boomers high-speed wings.
Trivia freaks might know that Pontiac's "GTO" means "Gran Turismo Omologato," but muscle car fans know it earned its nicknamea The Great Onea at a time when America built the greatest cars on earth. It wasn't the fastest, the most powerful, or the most outrageous muscle car, but Pontiac's GTO resides at the very top of the pantheon because it was the first.
"GTO 50 Years: The Original Muscle Car" follows the rise of this iconic vehicle from the day in 1963 when Chief Engineer John Z. DeLorean bolted a 389-cubic-inch GTO engine into a prototype Tempest coupe through the final GTO rendition in 2006. Wedding that massive V-8 to a mid-size GM chassis created one of the fastest production cars of the time but also made it a car just about anyone with a job could afford.
It started as an option package that was supposed to be limited to 5,000 units. Instead, word of mouth pushed sales to more than six times that many in its first year.
Hundreds of photographs round out this thoroughly researched history and offer insight into the vehicle that, through redesigns, repackages, and relaunches, came of age with the Baby Boomer generation. From classic 1960s models to the GTO's revival in 2004, the exhilarating story of the outlaw that should never have beena and will never be againa will thrill any auto enthusiast."
