Seventeen-year-old Tess talks to Jonah every day; through texts,
tweets and emails. So when she discovers Jonah has committed
suicide, her world implodes. Feeling heartbroken and traumatized
Tess unexpectedly finds herself at her estranged father's house,
wondering how well she really knew Jonah. Now, having dropped out
of high school, struggling with questions about life and loss, Tess
and her father come together to try and find the answers.
Joshua and his grandfather love being together. More than anything
else they love fishing. But Grandpa gets ill and is in the hospital
a long time. When he gets out, he and Joshua share one more fishing
adventure, and Grandpa promises Joshua that he will always be near.
"Think of it this way," Grandpa says. "Today, you and I are like
two fish swimming together in this lake. When I die, things will be
different. I won't be a fish anymore, but I'll become something
even better. My love will be like the water in the lake. You might
think I'm not with you, but we'll be closer than ever because
you'll be surrounded by my love." Long after Grandpa dies, Joshua
comes to understand that Grandpa kept his promise-and that love and
its memory survive death. When grown-up Joshua goes fishing with
his daughter, he teaches her what Grandpa taught him: "She knows we
never have to feel alone or afraid because we are surrounded by a
love that lasts forever."

Two teens must learn the "art of killing" in this Printz Honor-winning book, the first in a chilling new series from Neal Shusterman, author of the New York Times bestselling Unwind dystology.
A world with no hunger, no disease, no war, no misery: humanity has conquered all those things, and has even conquered death. Now Scythes are the only ones who can end life--and they are commanded to do so, in order to keep the size of the population under control.
Citra and Rowan are chosen to apprentice to a scythe--a role that neither wants. These teens must master the "art" of taking life, knowing that the consequence of failure could mean losing their own.
Scythe is the first novel of a thrilling new series by National Book Award-winning author Neal Shusterman in which Citra and Rowan learn that a perfect world comes only with a heavy price.

Everyone is always shouting at Gus to stop leaning back in his
chair - but does he care? No way! Then sure enough, the chair
falls, he cracks his head and has to spend all summer in bed. Out
of the crack escape his memories, dreams and imagination ... and a
beautiful little butterfly guide. Gus must follow the butterfly to
recapture all he's lost, including that locked box he doesn't seem
to want to touch ... Together they remember fish fingers, snapping
bubble wrap, cracked pink soap and the leaky tap; they go wild,
stomping around in the joy of imagination and happy dreams - but
they can't go any further if Gus won't gather all of his memories.
His butterfly will die unless Gus is ready to hear about his mum
... A delightful and moving exploration of grief and the joy that
makes us human, from the effervescent voice of Laura Dockrill, with
heartwarming full-colour illustrations from Gwen Millward.

Matt wears a black suit every day. No, not because his mom died -
although she did, and it sucks. But he wears the suit for his gig
at the local funeral home, which pays way better than the Cluck
Bucket, and he needs the income since his dad can't handle the
bills (or anything, really) on his own. So while Dad's snagging
bottles of whiskey, Matt's snagging fifteen bucks an hour. Not bad.
But everything else? Not good. Then Matt meets Lovey. Crazy name,
and she's been through more crazy stuff than he can imagine. Yet
Lovey never cries. She's tough. Really tough. Tough in the way Matt
wishes he could be. Which is maybe why he's drawn to her, and
definitely why he can't seem to shake her. Because there's nothing
more hopeful than finding a person who understands your loneliness
- and who can maybe even help take it away.
