Using techniques previously unseen in the genre, Sergio Leone utilizes close-ups, color, and Ennio Morricone's trademark score to create a tense and somber meditation on death which is widely considered to be one of the best westerns in cinematic history.
Producer-director Howard Hawks teams up with legendary stars for this drama set in postCivil War Texas, the second in the trilogy the director's easy going westerns starring John Wayne, which also included Rio Bravo and Rio Lobo. Robert Mitchum plays the alcoholic sheriff who fights greedy cattlemen and empire builders as he tries almost single-handedly to tame the West. Wayne is Mitchum's old-friend-turned-gun-fighter who comes to town, while James Caan offers an eccentric and likeable performance as a youthful gunslinger. With broad strokes of humour, Hawks works a familiar terrain with the western he-men, who manage to help Mitchum rid the town of it's unsavoury characters.
No-one is quicker than Butch Cassidy (Paul Newman) when it comes to get rich quick schemes, and his sidekick Sundance (Robert Redford) is a wizard with a gun. When these two bungling bank and train robbers tire of running from the law, they set out for Bolivia with Sundance's girlfriend (Katharine Ross).
Though they can barely speak enough Spanish to communicate: "This is a stick-up!", that's only a minor detail to the two nicest "bad-guys" who ever rode the West.
Eastwood and Morgan Freeman play retired, down-on-their-luck outlaws who pick up their guns one last time to collect a bounty offered by the vengeful prostitutes of the remote Wyoming town of Big Whiskey.
Richard Harris is an ill-fated interloper, a colourful killer-for-hire called English Bob. And Gene Hackman is the sly and brutal local sheriff who's brand of law enforcement ranges from unconventional to ruthless. Big trouble is coming to Big Whiskey.
Out of the pages of the legendary comics and graphic novels steps Jonah Hex, a scarred drifter and bounty hunter of last resort who can track anyone... and anything.
Having survived death, Jonah's violent history is steeped in myth and legend and has left him with one foot in the natural world and one on the "other side." His one human connection is with Lilah, whose life in a brothel has left her with scars of her own.
But Jonah's past catches up with him when the U.S. military makes him an offer he can’t refuse: to wipe out the warrants on his head, he must hunt and stop dangerous terrorist Quentin Turnbull.
But Turnbull, now gathering an army and preparing to unleash Hell, is also Jonah's oldest enemy and will stop at nothing until Jonah is dead.

Only the world-weary marshal struggles to stop the violent hysteria, but after a gruesome discovery about Paul's past… there's no stopping the escalation.
