No Room to Move - The Bizarre world of the Watchtower Society (Paperback)

The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania is the main legal entity of the Jehovah's Witnesses. This organisation directs and controls the thinking of almost eight million people around the world known principally for their door knocking campaigns. The Watchtower Society is responsible for almost everything in the life of a Jehovah's witness; from the literature they read, the lectures to which they listen through to their attitude toward medical procedures and the people with whom they choose to associate. They don't celebrate Christmas, Easter or birthdays, don't vote in political elections, refuse blood transfusions and refuse to be conscripted into the military, which often makes them stand out from the rest of society. Less understood is why they take these stands and what it costs them and society as a whole to do so. Concerning is the fact they anticipate a day when the vast majority of mankind will be wiped from the earth so that a small group may worship in the way they choose. The fact they live their lives under the control of a handful of men to whom they essentially turn over their power of reasoning and their freedom of speech is even more concerning. That this sometimes costs them their lives or the lives of their children is frightening. This is the story of one man's journey through and eventually out of The Bizarre World of the Watchtower Society.
