I mean both you and I, for without your consent I had not been here; wherefore, you are share and share alike with me in the fruit and reward of my labors, as the Lord may please to accept and prosper. Therefore, my beloved, whatever we do or attempt in the service of the Lord, let us do it heartily as to the Lord and for the best interests of our fellow-men, for the Lord loveth a cheerful giver. In the _mean time, indulge the blissful sentiments contained in the little song I have transcribed for your enjoyment. Christianity, in its blissful and comprehensive effeets, terminates in faith and love; that is, in the belief and love of the Divine character as manifested in Christ by the Gospel; and in the exercise that proceeds from this state of mind, and terminates upon the whole human family, according to the various conditions and relations in which they appear, and under which we view them in the present world. This exercise of faith and love fills the soul with delight--delight, I mean, in God, and universal benevolence toward man. But in order to the enjoyment of it, we must possess it; we must exercise it; and in order to this, wemust study the Gospel character of God as manifested in and by the Savior, who is the image of the invisible Divinity, so that he who has seen and apprehended his character has seen the Father.
