The revolutionary war is over, but the fight for the vast, fertile, unsettled lands of America has just began. White settlers encroaching into the red mans tribal hunting grounds is the cause of hostility and bloodshed on the wild frontier. The Long Hunter and Trapper, Nathan Buell and other's like him are all the warning and protection that stands between the scalping knife of the red man and the white settlers. Buell along with his great Wolfhound have been entrusted to venture into the land of the Mohawk People and their great War Chief, Thayendanega, known by the whites as Joseph Brant. He has been entrusted to find a white boy captive and return him to his grandfather at Somerset Manor. Action, adventure and romance travels with Nathan Buell, whom the Mohawk and other tribes call the Catamount as he traverses the dangerous forests in his quest for the young Lord Seymour.
