Papaya (Carica papaya L.) is a fruit high in fiber which lowers cholesterol levels. It is widely grown in Sindh Province of Pakistan. Papaya suffers from many pests including plant parasitic nematodes and often the crop losses due to nematodes are substantial. In a survey of ten localities of Hyderabad and Karachi districts of Sindh Province eight different nematodes were recorded. The effect of four plant extracts on papaya yield and nematode density is reported. Histopathology of papaya roots infected with Rotylenchulus reniformis is given in detail. This information is useful for parasitologists, plant pathologists and farmers.
