Last year, we offered to raise the salary of our National Secretary. He refused to accept it, "because," he said, "you cannot afford to pay it." Now he has resigned, ami we must find a new secretary. I am not in 'favor of hiring a $10,000 man, but of finding a man who will grow to meet the needs, and pay him accordingly. We have slowly raised the salary of our Minnesota secretary, still he does not receive enough. I want him to clrmfo higher. Our National Organization has rendered a great service through our State Associations by reducing the cost of bonds for managers from $15.00 per thousand to $3.50 per thousand. We were unable to get them any lower on account of the rating agencies. The survey made by all of the staite secretaries has shown losses to be very small. We are in a position to organize our own bonding company if necessary. For that reason, we-are able to get the low rate we do. This shows the strength of our organization. The State Secretaries did this through the Xational. I urge you strongly to stay 'by your Association. If you are not members, join. If your neighboring companies are not members, get them to join. Let us not pot it off, but all get in. Let everybody boost. Boost for your local company, boost for your State Association, boost for your Secretary, and for your National. Grain Grading Mr. Matthewson, who was conducting a grain grading demonstration throughout the convention, appeared before the Convention, and after a few introductory words of explanation, threw the subject open for questions from the house, and a number o'f questions were asked which he answered...
