The purpose of this Association shall be the advancement of Orthopedic science and art. MEMBERS. III. The members shall be graduates in Medicine in good professional standing, who are especially interested in Orthopedic science and art. Candidates for membership shall have been engaged in the practice of medicine for at least three years, and shall have given evidence of satisfactory scientific attainments. p-ORFEITURE OF MEMBERSHIP. IV. The Association shall have power to declare forfeiture of membership in case of any member who ceases to exhibit an active interest in the science of Orthopedic Surgery. Any active member of the Association who shall absent himself from three consecutive annual meetings shall be dropped from the roll of membership, unless he shall be able to give satisfactory reasons to the Association for his dereliction. BY-LAWS. ELECTION OF MEMBERS. I. There shall be a Committee on Membership, consisting of five. All nominations shall be made in open meeting by two members of the Association, and shall be referred to the Committee on Membership, who may report on each name as they shall think proper; such report to be made at the next annual meeting following that at which the nomination is made. But the proposers of any member may, after the report of this Committee has been received, bring such name before the Association. The Secretary shall soon after each annual meeting send to each member of the Association a list of the names of all candidates proposed for membership, together with the names of the proposers and of the members of the Committee on Membership.
