The story Nobody's Child begins in Ireland in 1847 in County Cork
and is retold by the author as it has been passed down through her
family over the years until the present day. It is not a tale of
woe and despair, but rather a moving tribute to Aine and Molly
Murphy, but especially Aine. It tells of their triumph over
adversity and of the great courage, strength, spirit and hope
within them. Live with Aine and Molly through a nightmare journey
that took them far from their Irish home to the shores of America
where they were "adopted" by Irish-born Ma and Pa Ryan who, with a
large brood of their own, had enough love in their hearts for these
two young children. Thrill at the wonders awaiting Aine in America
and be amazed by the golden thread of her spirit, which from the
beginning to the end of the story anchors her so effectively that
nothing and no one could vanquish it.
