Not what you'd expect - How the women's liberation movement started: My personal experience (Paperback)

This is a short history of the first year of the women's liberation movement. Because Anne was there when it started, she was able to recount the first meetings, during 1967 and 1968. The book is very personal and very revealing about Anne.

Anne says "I wrote it because the men in my life asked me to. They wanted to know how women's liberation started and said 'You were there Anne, please tell all about it. Everyone wants to know it.'

"So I did it to please them, but it turned out I had a ball writing it. And I found it very interesting.

"It's a lot of fun, and some of it is funny, I didn't try to be funny, I just told it as it was. But it made me laugh as I was writing it (some parts of it) because I hadn't realized back then what far-out chicks we really had been. But maybe that is how revolutions start."

The book is delightful and really interesting. It is a quick read, and really evokes the feel of the times and the types of women involved. A giddy happy time of bold purpose.

The book puts you right there with what was happening, and makes you hungry for more.

Plenty has already been written about the movement, so Anne's unique memories and experience add a visceral excitement I doubt has been captured before. Like being there and being that young again.
