The week was also marked by the forty-ninth annual alumni reception to the graduating class, participated in by 250 alumni, representative of every class since 1848. Of the $2,500 necessary to found a Pennsylvania scholarship, more than $1,000 has been pledged by graduates of that state. The degree of Master of Pharmacy was conferred upon Samuel Phillip Sadtler, Ph.D., LL. D.; Henry Kraemcr, Ph. G., Ph. B., Ph.D., of the college faculty; James Hartley Beal, Sc. D., Ph. D., secretary of the American Pharmaceutical Association, and Joseph Winters England and Frederic Belding Power, director of the Wellcome Research Laboratories, London, England. Five prizes were awarded Victor O. Homberg, who received distinguished mention. Other prize winners were Roy H. Taylor, Phillip F. Fackenthall, James M. Southall, Nathan Zonier, Cyrus T. Gilbert. Hoorable mention was made of Ray Augustus Albeck, Charles Henry Brown and John Michael Vogel. Ninety-eight candidates received degrees of Doctor in Pharmacy, twenty as pharmaceutical chemists. Three certificates of proficiency in pharmacy and two of proficiency in the food and, drug course were awarded.
