(Continued from page nj.) Q. What is an angular coupling? A. It is a device by which one shaft can transmit its motion to another not having the same central line. Q. Where are a angular couplings most used? A. To connect shafts which are not parallel. Q. What is a hanger? A. It is a projecting or pendant support for the shaft bearing. Q. What is a drop hanger? A. One which "hangs" properly; that is, is pendant from the ceiling, or from an overhead support. Q. What is a post hanger? A. One which projects from post or wall. Q. What is a split hanger? A. One in which the lower portion of the bearing can be removed so as to let the shaft drop out without having to back it out endwise. Q. What advantage is there in transmission by belts? A. It gives a certain amount of flexibility to the system, permitting of gradually starting and stopping, and in case of clogging of the machinery, the belts will generally slip and lessen the damage done. Q. Where are belts inadmissible for transmission? A. Where absolute regularity of rotation speed is desired. Q. What is the most commonly used belt? A. Leather. Q. Where are leather belts inadmissible? A. Where there is much dampness. Q. How is the best rubber belt made? A.
