The city of Oaxaca has begun the construction of water works and sewer systems, which will cost about $500,000 when completed. The municipal authorities recently purchased the waters from the Molina del Lazo, situated near Etla, which will be used to supply the city of Oaxaca. This source of water supply is about fifteen miles from Oaxaca. An American firm of contractors has just finished the construction of complete and modern water works and sewer systems for the city of Parral, state of Chihuahua, at a cost of $580,000. The systems comprise forty-four miles of sewer and water pipes and a dam and reservoir. It is stated that 1,400 Independent dwellings and business houses and 3,200 living rooms in that city have already been connected with the two systems. The city of Guanajuato, which in times past has been subject to disastrous overflows, has been relieved from all possibilities of a repetition of such events by the completion of a drainage tunnel which will afford a quick outlet for the surplus waters. The construction of the tunnel cost about $2,000,000. That city has in contemplation other Important public Improvements. The construction of modern systems of water works and sewers for the city of Torreon by an American Arm of contractors, which has been in progress for the last two years, is now practically finished. This city Is planning to do a large amount of street paving. The great Chuviscar dam, which Is being erected near Chihuahua to afford a works system of that city, will be finished water supply for the proposed water In July next, at a cost of about $750,000....
