BBC series in which Professor Aubrey Manning travels round the British Isles studying the archaeology, geology, and natural history of the landscape, revealing why the land has come to look the way it does. In 'The Riddle of the Yorkshire Tracks', Aubrey travels to the North Yorkshire coastline to investigate the area's industrial past: hidden by day, a secret landscape is suddenly revealed when the tide recedes. In 'The Terraces of Avalon', Professor Manning investigates the stepped terraces cut into the side of Glastonbury Tor, trying to find a connection with the myths that have become synonomous with the landscape.
