The aim of this dynamic course is to challenge learners to explore
the world around them and to use language effectively and
creatively. The Grade 1 and 2 courses are each comprised of a
number of components, these being Activity Books, Story Books,
Posters, and a Teacher's Resource Book. Grades 3 to 7 are each made
up of a Learner's Book and a Teacher's Guide. The material uses an
outcomes-based approach to education and meets the requirements of
the Revised National Curriculum Statement. The Teacher's Resource
Books and Teacher's Guides detail the learning outcomes and
assessment standards that are covered in each Grade and make
suggestions for continuous assessment. Textures caters for varying
levels of competence, is easy and enjoyable to use and forms part
of a series which runs from Grades 1 to 12. The challenging
Learner's Books combine a variety of fiction, non-fiction, drama
and poetry from different cultures. The course aims to develop a
thorough understanding and knowledge of language and to encourage
learners to explore the process of writing and creating their own
texts. One of the features of the learner's book is the Writing
Portfolio, which provides numerous oppurtunities for developing
writing skills.
