Acacia cognata, commonly known as Bower Wattle or River Wattle, is a tree or shrub species that is endemic to Australia. It grows to between 3 and 10 metres high. The pale yellow globular flowerheads appear singly or in pairs in the leaf axils between July and October in the species native range. It occurs in the states of New South Wales and Victoria.A cultivar is a plant or group of plants selected for desirable characteristics that can be maintained by propagation. Most cultivars have arisen in cultivation but a few are special selections from the wild. Popular ornamental garden plants like roses, camellias, daffodils, rhododendrons and azaleas are cultivars produced by careful breeding and selection for flower colour and form.
