A Collection of Essays on Hope (Paperback)

Isaiah 40:31 but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. (NIV) Isaiah 40:31 was one of Pastor Bill's favorite verses and urged him on to greater hope, faith and trust in his anchor, the Rock. Most of these essays were written during four years (2008-2012) of chemo cocktails and their side effects. Diagnosed with aggressive colon cancer with metastasis to his liver, he learned trust in God's power to sustain him emotionally, physically, and spiritually while wrestling with anxiety and depression. Through these times he learned again the buoyancy of hope for today and hope for eternal life when God decides this day is over. During his last days he requested that the book of Philippians be read over and over. He found hope and faith in the God who created him and would walk the journey with him to the end. 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. (NIV)
