Not illustrated. 1887 Excerpt: ... Tennis Association, composed of clubs that play in Prospect Park, Brooklyn, was organized April 27th. Eighty-one clubs were represented, and the following officers were elected: President, D. G. O'Reilly; vice-president, T. W. F. Maxwell; secretary, Duncan Curry; treasurer, J. W. Potter; executive committee, J. C. Powers, H. B. Duncan, J. Crenelle, W. A. Webster and L. W. Ropes. The State Street Lawn Tennis Club, of Camden, N. J., has been organized with the following officers: President, Edward Blakely; vicepresident, Miss Nettie Potter; secretary, Miss Kate Patton; treasurer, S. W. Ambruster; executive committee, Mr. Devin, Miss Archer and Miss Hunt. The club grounds are at Third and State streets. RACQUET. The New York Racquet Club recently decided the following games: Messrs. W. T. Lawson and C. F. Watson gained an easy victory over Messrs S. H. Hoyt and F. A. Otis in a double racquet match. The contest was decided in three straight games, as follows: 1st. 2d. 3d. Messrs. Hoyt and Otis 5 3 2--10 Messrs. Lawson and Watson 15 15 15--45 Messrs. E. W. Jewett and D. C. Clark defeated Messrs. W. W. Miller and B. B. Kirkland. Four games were played, with the following result: 1st. 2d. 3d. 4th. Jewett and Clark 6 15 15 15--51 Miller and Kirkland 15 7 2 12--36 The last match of the third ties in the first-class handicap series was between Mr. W. T. Lawson and Mr. C. L. Perkins. Four interesting games were played, which resulted in Mr. Lawson coming oft the victor, as follows: 1st. 2d. 3d. 4th. Mr. Lawson 15 13 15 15--58 Mr. Perkins 7 15 6 S--36 ROWTNG. The Ottawa (can.)
