Excerpt: Rumun Ndur (born July 7, 1975 in Zaria, Nigeria) is a Nigerian-born Canadian professional ice hockey player. He has played in the NHL for the Buffalo Sabres, the New York Rangers, and the Atlanta Thrashers. Ndur is also the first Nigerian-born player ever to play in the NHL. He was born in Nigeria but grew up in Hearst, Ontario. Ndur moved to Union, Ontario (near London) and played his minor hockey for the St. Thomas Travelers, Ndur played for the Belmont Pests Jr.D. (1990-91) and Clearwater Steeplejacks Jr.C. (1991-92) clubs of the OHA. Ndur was drafted in the 9th round (129th overall) by the Guelph Storm in the 1992 OHL Priority Selection. He was drafted by the Sabres in 1994 in the third round, 69th pick overall. In 1996 he won a Calder Cup with the Rochester Americans. He made his debut in the NHL in 199697 with the Sabres. In 199899 he was traded to the New York Rangers and just a year later he was traded to Atlanta and played 27 games with them during the 199900 NHL season. Since that season he has played in the minors. He has played a total of 69 games in NHL. He scored 5 points (2 goals + 3 assists) with 137 penalty minutes. Rumun captured the imagination of a section of the Coventry Blaze fanbase and had a small fan club of his own which traveled to the majority the team's of home games from the town of Banbury. However he played just two games of the 200708 season before suffering from a neck injury, ruling him out for the season. In May 2008, Ndur was released by Coventry. Ndur went on to sign with the Nottingham Panthers and then turned around on 25 September 2009 to sign with the International Hockey League club the Flint Generals. ...More: http: //booksllc.net/?id=313017
