Excerpt: Vojislav eelj, JD (Serbian Cyrillic: , pronounced ) (b. 11 October 1954, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, then Yugoslavia) is a Serbian politician, writer and lawyer. He is the founder and president of the Serbian Radical Party and has been a member of the Serbian parliament. eelj is currently on trial for alleged war crimes and possible crimes against humanity by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY). He surrendered voluntarily in February 2003. His trial began four years later in November 2007. Since February 2009, the prosecution has presented 71 witnesses against Seselj. With seven hours left in the prosecution, his trial was suspended because of alleged witness intimidation. The trial has resumed on January 12, 2009, and Seselj doesn't plan on calling any witnesses in his defense, stating that there is no need since the prosecution has not presented a single worthy witness. On 24 July 2009, he was sentenced to a further 15 months in custody for disrespecting the court. Seselj is known for using swear words in the court and has published a name of a hidden witness. eelj's trial continued on, 2010. Vojislav eelj was born in Sarajevo, PR Bosnia-Herzegovina, FPR Yugoslavia to an ethnic Serb family that hails from Popovo Valley in eastern Herzegovina region. He lived near the old Sarajevo train station before the family moved to Hrasno neighbourhood. His father Nikola eelj, who worked on the railways, died during Vojislav's early youth meaning that he and his sister Dragica were raised by their mother alone.
