The group provides services within bus transport, car ferry transport, tourism in addition to operating the Coastal Express along the Norwegian Coast. The company is listed on Oslo Stock Exchange. Hurtigruten Group is the result of a merger between the two previous operators of the Coastal Express, Ofotens og Vesteraalens Dampskibsselskab (OVDS) and Troms Fylkes Dampskibsselskap (TFDS). TFDS had its roots back to 1866 while OVDS had its roots back to 1868. Hurtigruten Group owns 70,15% of TIRB, a Finnsnes based bus and truck company. TIRB also owns Tromsbuss and Ofotens Bilruter. Hurtigruten Group is the sole operator of the Coastal Express between Bergen and Kirkenes along the Norwegian Coast. A total of 11 ships operate the route. It also owns 50% of the short sea liner Nor Lines that among other things manages the cargo onboard the Coastal Express ships.
