The Art of Bass 2001 Calendar (Paperback)

Description: Artist Alan James Robinson has trout on his mind. Whether he is hip-deep in a stream, or working at his drawing table, trout challenge his creative interest. Trout of North America features a dozen different paintings, with each species located on a background map showing the area where the elusive fish may be found. The calendar includes commentary about each species as well as monthly detail images of alluring flies. A satisfying catch every month. Notes: This calendar will be marketed as an "Archive Edition, " printed on high-quality uncoated paper with pages suitable for framing. Each of Alan's watercolors is created over a topographical map showing the region where that fish can be found. This unique form of art is known as "glazing." Glazing allows 90-95 percent of the original information on the map to show through the watercolor paints, thereby not compromising the beauty and information of the map. Alan James Robinson has been a fly-fisherman and fly-tyer for over 32 years. As a wildlife artist and outdoorsman, he is committed to advancing his understanding of nature through his many experiences. Over the years, Alan has collected a vast library of slides which he uses as reference for artwork and for presentations to conservation groups and sporting clubs. In addition to fishing stationary, notecards, and prints, he has published 27 limited edition books, including TROUT-Brook, Brown and Rainbow, ATLANTIC SALMON, TROUT & BASS, and SALTWATER GRAND SLAM. He has licensed illustrations to many magazines and book publishers, including: Disney, Knopf, Doubleday, Moyer Bell, Safari Press, Lyons Press, Fly Rod and Reel, Sporting Classics, and Wild Steelhead and AtlanticSalmon.
