WHEN I PERUSE THE SHELVES OF THE BOOK STORES I never, or at least very rarely ever, see a book about ministers that is positive and/or complimentary. Almost always they are books telling us how some minister is "a crook," a "womanizer," a "charlatan" a "money-grubber," or "he was just looking for an easy, soft job." And, of course, when lay people read these books they just automatically reason from the particular to the general and conclude that all ministers are like that minister the book talks about. This one fictional pastor, the Reverend Doctor Caswell David Ely, the main character in my book, like practically all of the "real" pastors I know, does not yield to these sins. This one pastor is representative of those 98 percent plus of all pastors, pastors who are hard-working, honest, clean-living, Bible-believing, moral, faithful-to-a-fault-husbands who are trying to do God's Will, serving God's churches, doing God's work, in God's world.. Very few stories in this book are fictional; almost all the stories are stories my fellow pastors have told me that actually happened to them - personally. In fact, a few, very few, of these stories happened to me. I have taken these stories and given them to a fictional pastor by the name of Cas Ely. It is to these faithful pastor friends of mine that I joyfully and lovingly dedicate this book, My Name is Cas.
