Lord's Day Morning. July?December. O Heavenly Father, who hast brought us in safety to the beginning of another week, grant that on this thy sabbath day we may grow in every good thought and deed. Make it unto us a day of rest from worldly work, a sabbath to the soul. And let the time which we thus gain from the business of earth be devoted to the things of heaven. Let us regard it as the Lord's Day, a day when we remember with especial thankfulness the grace and truth of Christ our Lord, a day when with more than common diligence we study to know his will, and with more than common zeal we strive to do his work. Grant that as often as this day comes round, we may review more closely our past misdeeds, and more rightly form our purposes for the future. Now let us confess more ho- nestly. Now let us repent more heartily. Now let us amend more thoroughly. Now let us believe, now let us love, now let us obey, with more of heart, and mind, and soul, than ever we have hitherto. Whatsoever in thy house of prayer we ask this day, in thy Son's name, grant, we beseech Thee, for his sake. Whatever portion of Holy Scripture, either there we hear, or at home we read, this day, do Thou bless to our everlasting benefit. Whatever word of exhortation we this day listen to in church, or receive in conference with each other, turn Thou to our profit, that it may help to make us wise unto salvation. And grant, that as we are brought each sabbath day one week nearer to the end of time, we may be also made by thy grace so much more fit to enter into eternity; there to dwell with Thee for ever; through the merits and mediation of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, Amen. 4. Lord's Day Evening. July?December. O Most holy Lord God, who through thy ever blessed Son hast brought life and imm...
