The book is aimed at women for a variety of good reasons. Of course, number one is that it was written by a woman. That is obviously important. But there is also a more general reason. Over too many centuries (in fact: too many millennia) large numbers of women have been abused and raped by men. Of course, it is often pointed out that according to tradition, this did not happen everywhere. It is said that, in the earliest times, there were Amazons, who ruled the world. But, for some strange and unknown reason, their kingdom collapsed and they disappeared. In the XXIst century, raping women is unacceptable, and Society strives to stamp it out. Human behaviour must change, as part of worldwide social and cultural progress. In the near future, it is clear that women will soon be in charge of Society, and, naturally enough, they will also decide how lovemaking is to be done. The signs are all around us. Actually, this transformation has already begun in private, and Prasopchai's work is simply part of the whole process of making it more evident, which is occurring in all modern societies. Originally, this book was intended for Asian women. First of all, because Prasopchai is Asian. That is obvious enough. Also, Asian women have, throughout history, received worse treatment than those on all the other continents. So it is logical, fair and indeed quite appropriate that this aspect of the sexual revolution should first have appeared in the East, before it could exist anywhere else. To establish and consolidate the new bond between woman and man will require nothing less than a rewrite of all the outdated conventions which somehow persist in public prejudices, but are no longer in tune with our times. This is true in all the main cultures. Prasopchai, however, was the first to recognize that the most important issue is not to aim for sexual equality, but rather to tip the balance completely the other way for a period of time which will have to be long enough to compensate. In fact, she advocated that women should now play the leading sexual role until they have become satisfied that justice is done and (perhaps) accept some restoration of equality. For the foreseeable future, this of course implies that female dominance should become the accepted norm, and the whole of Prasopchai's thinking revolves around the search for the best way to achieve it. Prasopchai's message is of great practical as well as philosophical importance. She proposes that there should be a complete revision of the usual conventions, which have been falsely attributed to 'natural' behaviour. She was helped in formulating such views by the fact that Asian societies, although they have become, in the past hundred years or so, more machist (mostly influenced in this way by contact with the West and by colonial dominance) nevertheless have a very long and respectable tradition of avatars, i.e. of Gods transforming themselves, both in terms of what they represent for humans and in respect of their sexual orientation. The relationship between gods, Society and sex is Prasopchai's subject. The book is illustrated with many drawings. Almost all of them are by the Russian artist Dimitri Alexandrovich Molchine. In addition to the text (adapted from the Thai original by HJ Chalonus), biographies of Prasopchai Sasithorn and DA Molchine are also included.
