The 2nd Engineer Regiment is a military engineer regiment of the Italian Army, specializing in mountain combat. Founded in 1860 it is currently the oldest active Engineer Regiment of the Italian Army. Since 1954 it has been part of the 4th Alpine Army Corps and thus a strong association with the Italian Armys mountain infantry corps - the Alpini. The Alpini distinguished themselves in combat during World War I and World War II.
