Upon the establishment of the Medical Department of Cornell University in 1898, in New York City, by action of the Board of Trustees, it was resolved that the work of the first two years, consisting as it does mainly of fundamental scientific subjects, should also be given in Ithaca, where the admirable facilities offered by the long established departments of Comparative Anatomy, Physics, Chemistry, Physiology, Histology, Embryology, and Bacteriology afford unrivalled facilities for thorough study.
