Cowboy Don was born and raised in Flint, Michigan. He had many struggles growing up being different. His parents got him involved in church at a young age. His eyesight was bad so he had thick glasses that always broke in the middle. Of course, they would just be taped back together. He had asthma so he could not be very involved in sports. He was picked on a lot. aGeeka and anerda were common words used to describe him. This book was written to help others who are having problems with being different. Whether it be different size, color, or just a difference in appearance, all are hard to deal with. With Cowboy Don still being a geek, he has had to come to terms with his differences and does not want to see others struggle. You could stay that this story is loosely based on Cowboy Donas life.
