Cry for Justice - A True Story (Hardcover)

In 2002 the story of Adrian Missbrenner, a Burr Ridge teenager and his three friends accused of an alleged videotaped rape of a sixteen-year old drunken girl, dominated the headlines for months. The charges, combined with a potential 60 year prison term if convicted, sparked a media frenzy in Chicago and across the country. Little factual evidence or proof was used in pre-convicting the young men in the headlines. The ordeal was so traumatic to Adrian, that he made a decision to flee the country to avoid prosecution. This act of desperation prompted the Illinois FBI to put him on The 10 Most Wanted List, despite the fact that no conviction had been obtained. Adrian spent eight months on the run in Serbia and was held by Serbian warlords for ransom. Upon his return to the USA these dreadful circumstances culminated in a public trial fueled by the unsubstantiated and erroneous information provided by the prosecution. Despite the prosecutors' overzealous attempt to convict, a jury acquitted him of all charges.
