The Anakim (Paperback)

Like most people, I was raised with the idea that there was someone (or something) out there-- a greater power that was in control of every aspect of life and death. For me, this higher power was Jesus Christ. In my youth, I had the faith of a child. However, that faith was lost when I began to question the existence of God because of the horrors that encompassed the world. It was at this time that I came up with the main character of this book: Father Antonio Rivera. The idea of a priest who was a Vampire thrilled me because this was a character that I thought I could relate to personally. I always felt that I was the character of Father Rivera because I lived the life of a wishy-washy Christian; I would pray when I thought I would get something out of it, and forget about God when it suited me. However, I discovered that the character of Father Rivera and I were different. What made us different was that Father Rivera was the man I always wanted to be, and I was becoming the type of man I always hated. In a crucial turning point in my life, I was able to give myself completely to God and regained the faith I thought I lost. It was at this point, eight years after Father Rivera was created, that his story began evolving and emerging from my mind. And now, a piece of his story has finally been told. Through this story, I have written a part of my life through the main character. And in my life, I learned that there is good and there is evil; there is no middle ground-- you serve one or the other, whether you like it or not.
