This booklet examines claims made by the Royal College of Psychiatrists and the UK Council for Psychotherapy to the effect that feelings of sexual attraction towards persons of one's own gender cannot be changed by therapeutic means. It questions the evidence on which these bodies have based their ethical positions and offers cautious hope for those whose life goals include the reasonable wish to marry and raise a family.
