"On the 14th and 15th days of the present native month (14th and 15th May), there is to be a great Matsuri (Japanese festival) here in Yokohama, more gorgeous than any which has ever been seen here. The ostensible excuse for this holiday-making is the removal of the shrine of Ten Sho Ko Dai Jin Go Sama from the cliff (now being cut away to form the new Kanagawa road) ...
