Sect. 2. No person or persons shall boil oil or make varnish in any shop, building, or place in this city, other than such as may be licensed by the mayor and aldermen, under the penalty of forfeiting and paying the sum of five dollars for the first month, and ten for every month afterwards, so long as they shall continue to offend against this order. Sect. 3. No gunpowder shall be kept within the limits'of this city unless the same be secured in tight casks or canisters, and no gunpowder above the quantity of fifty pounds shall be kept or deposited in any shop or other building, or in any ship or vessel which shall be within the distance of twenty-five rods from any other building or wharf, and no gunpowder above the quantity of twenty-five pounds shall be kept or deposited in any shop or other building in the city within ten rods of any other building; and no gunpowder above the quantity, of one pound shall be kept or deposited in any shop or other building within ten rods of any other building unless the same be well secured in copper, tin or brass canisters, holding not exceeding five pounds each, and 1 closely covered with copper, tin or brass covers, according to the provisions of the revised statutes, seventh section of the fifty-eighth 4 chapter.
