Weiqi at the 2010 Asian Games (Paperback)

Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. A Weiqi tournament was held at the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou for the first time at an Asiad. The three events in the competition - men's team, women's team and mixed doubles - were held between 20 and 26 November 2010 at the Guangzhou Chess Institute. Competitors from China, Hong Kong, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mongolia, Chinese Taipei, Thailand and Vietnam were taking part in Weiqi across the three events, although not all nations had competitors in each. Go, known in Chinese as weiqi (simplified Chinese: traditional Chinese: pinyin: weiqi; Wade-Giles: wei ch'i) and in Korean as baduk (hangul), is an ancient board game for two players that is noted for being rich in strategy despite its relatively simple rules. The game is played by two players who alternately place black and white stones on the vacant intersections of a grid of 19x19 lines. Once placed on the board, stones cannot be moved elsewhere, unless they are surrounded and captured by the opponent's stones.
