The bench mark consists of a cross cut in the top of th lava rim rock above the gage, and is at an elevation of 12.90 feet. The elevation of the zero of the gage taken from the levels of the railroad is 2,191.34 feet above sea level. Discharge measurements are made from a cable and car about 300 feet below the gage. Both banks ar? high and not liable to overflow. The bed of the river is of gravel an: not likely to change. The following discharge measurements were made during 1902: June 26: Gage height, 2.20 feet: discharge, 871 second-feet. July 19: Gage height, 1.20 feet: discharge, 310 second-feet August 4: Gage height, 0.40 foot; discharge, 53 second-feet. September 18: Gage height, 0.30 foot; discharge, 56 second-feet.
