Excerpt: ... Lead Acetate Lead Oxide Distilled water sufficient to make 100 Gm. Dissolve the lead acetate in 70 Cc. boiling distilled water contained in a glass beaker or porcelain dish, and add this solution to the lead oxide, finely powdered, and boil for half an hour, adding distilled water as necessary, to make up the loss by evaporation. Remove the vessel from the source of heat, and when cold, add sufficient distilled water, previously boiled and cooled, to make the solution weigh 100 Gm. Lastly, filter the liquid through filter paper in a closely covered funnel. Tie the eupatorium loosely in a piece of cheese cloth or thin muslin, and by means of a string suspend in an earthen teapot or other vessel so that it will not touch the side or bottom. Add 100 Cc. water and boil for fifteen minutes. Cool, express, and add sufficient water through the strainer to make 100 Cc. To sterilize the decoction, place it in a clean bottle, cork loosely and stand the bottle in a vessel of cold water and heat gradually to boiling. After boiling about five minutes, remove the bottle, press the cork in tightly and tie it down with a string. Tie the anthemis loosely in a piece of cheese cloth or muslin, place in an earthen vessel, pour on 100 Cc. boiling water, cover the vessel and let stand till cool. Lastly, pour off the cooled liquid, and add through the drug suspended in a funnel, sufficient water to make 100 Cc. To preserve, sterilize by heat, as directed under Decoction of Eupatorium.
