State briefly the advantages of the metric system of weights and measures; and give examples to show its superiority in point of convenience, as compared with the English system. 4. Explain and illustrate the doctrine of the parallelogram of forces. 5. Show how to find the resultant of three given forces acting on a point; and prove that to produce equilibrium their directions must lie in the same plane.
