The following list of office-bearers, recommended by the Council, was elected, viz.: --President--Dr. G. H. B. Macleod. Vice-Presidents--Dr. David Taylor Paisley), Dr. Lapraik. Council--Dr. Wm. Whitelaw Kirkintilloch), Dr. W. A. Wilson (Greenock), Dr. J. A. Lothiax, Dr. Wm. Patrick, Dr. M. Thomas, Dr. A. M. Rorertsox, Dr. S. J. Moore, Dr. A. Wood Smith. Secretaries--Dr. J. Wallace Andersox, Dr. W. G. Dun. Treasurer--Dr. Hugh Thomson. The President, in a few sentences inaugurated the business of the session, and in doing so adverted to the growing tendency to specialisation in medical societies in Glasgow. He had on a former opportunity taken occasion to deprecate this tendency as regarded the institution of the Pathological and Clinical Society; and during the late session they had seen a further development of the same tendency in the foundation of an Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society, of which he would only say that he trusted that those who were present at its delivery might be able to give them some assurance as to its legitimacy, on which some doubt was thrown by the secrecy enveloping its origin. He trusted that the medical profession would rally round the old parent Society, the chief glory of which was that it was not sectional in its aims and constitution, but dealt with the whole round of the medical sciences. This Society endeavoured as far as it could to treat the different subdivisions which of necessity existed as really essential parts of one whole. He trusted that the members would show by their attendance the interest they felt in the well-being and progress of the Association. Dr. Alexander Pat..
