IN" the year 1809, Miss Edgeworth wrote a friend that Dr., now Sir Henry, Holland, in his visit at Edgeworthstown, had much to say of Mrs. Barbauld, and greatly interested her old friends there by his conversation about her. In the same year Miss Edgeworth again refers to her, and mentions correcting "Belinda" for Mrs. Barbauld, who is going to insert 12 it in.her collection of novels, with a preface. While still very much prostrated and depressed by the death of Mr. Barbauld, she had the strength of mind and fortitude to busy herself with her beloved pursuits; and being asked to edit a "Collection of the British Novelists," she consented to occupy herself with the arrangement and preparation of their works and lives.
