Canon Eawnsley, will not be wholly unremembered. "It is the last time. When you leave this Church, and go back to your own homes, you will have worshipped for the last time, and heard Cod's Word preached to you for the last time, and His Peace delivered to you for the last time within these venerable walls. When next you come together into Spilsby Church, all will have become new; the shaken, shattered walls will have been taken down; the galleries, which now disfigure the building, will have disappeared; the worn-out timbers, and heavy overhanging beams will have been removed; and a new edifice will have been raised up, long, I trust, to remain Eor 200 years and more before the great Reformation, for 200 years and more since then, this Church has been the one meetingplace of God's people in this parish. For all that time, up to the end of the 17th century, and later, those who lived in Spilsby neither had, nor wished to have, a second house in which to worship Grod." And the preacher spoke of the hallowed associations gathered around and in the church, of the many voices which had proclaimed G-od's word therein, of holy recollections which they brought, of the link which a church forms in binding "generations each to each."
