A relief worker is kidnapped off the streets of Beirut. Neil Paruka, a newspaper reporter from Seattle is asked to find out what happened to him and why he was taken. His investigation takes him to a number of countries in the Middle East, where he learns about the culture, the religious clashes, and a good deal about himself.
