The Jewish nation had a small beginning --Abraham, the head, and his bride, who were for a long time childless. Abraham was a type of Christ with His Bride--the Church--which was for a time without the addition of members. Abraham was called to leave his native home and "Go into a land which I (God) will show thee." So Christ was called into the same country, from His native home. The Jewish nation had twelve patriarchs: the Church, twelve apostles. In after years the patriarchs went into bondage of oppression under a definite name--Israel. The same is true of the Church. The Jews were led out of their oppression under a great leader and became a great nation of the earth. God delivered His Church from oppression, and it has become a great Church in the world. The Jews came to the end of their national existence by a great breaking up at the destruction of Jerusalem. So will the Church, "At the end of the ages." The Jews still live as a people, ...
